The Billboard numbers are in and as expected Kendrick Lamar’s debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, debuted at number 2. Lamar sold an impressive 241,000 copies but was no match for Taylor Swift whose Red album sold a record breaking 1.2 million copies in the first week to take the number one spot.
But Lamar predicted his album would do very well and it did — even coming in at number 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop album charts, and the Rap album charts.
We caught up with Lamar just a day after the album dropped on the carpet for Samsung’s launch party for the Galaxy Note II and he talked about working with Dr Dre, being dubbed “the new king of the west coast” and wanting to work with Erykah Badu. Check it out!
