Things were starting to feel weird because we hadn’t heard any news of Katt Williams being arrested in a while. Luckily the comedian was quick to rectify the situation, and set things back to normal.
Williams was arrested outside of his home Tuesday, for failure to show up in Sacramento to a court arraignment related to his bizarre police chase there last November. It was the 5th time he’d been arrested in 2 months.
Williams said that the reason why his missed his court date in Sacramento, was because he already had an existing court date in Los Angeles at the same time:
“Sacramento put out a warrant after they knew I had to be in court. I couldn’t be in two court places at the same time. I had court in L.A. and court in Sacramento on the same day.”
Williams went on to say that he chose to attend the Los Angeles court date because it was related to the custody of his kids:
“It was my kids, so I can’t miss that one.”
Tough choice, but that’s what you pay lawyers for (to handle your conflicting court dates BEFOREHAND so that you don’t get arrested)! On top of all that, Williams was NOT granted custody of his kids at his Los Angeles court hearing.
2012 was a tough year for the comedian, and 2013 is getting off to a rocky start. But the year is still young, and hopefully Williams will be able to turn his situation around.
As we’ve seen from the child custody cases of Tameka Raymond and Pilar Sanders, no custody decision is appeal proof! And despite his earlier claims of quitting comedy, Williams still has a remaining show available for purchase on Ticketmaster. Do you think he’ll be able to put his legal negativity behind him and go back to being funny?
