Oprah Announces Two Tyler Perry Shows For OWN!

Must be nice to have a BFF with her own network!

Two months ago, Oprah Winfrey revealed plans to work with Tyler Perry on two original scripted programs for OWN, a first for the network. Now OWN has released further details on Perry’s contribution to the network via The Hollywood Reporter:

“Haves and the Have Nots is a single-camera effort about the dynamics of the affluent Cyrer family and the impoverished family of their housekeeper, Hanna, and the obstacles and secrets that exist within both families. Love Thy Neighbor, meanwhile, is a multi-camera series set at Love’s Diner, where every day the menu serves up good food, great laughs, valuable life lessons and a lot of love for its zany neighbors.”

The Haves and the Have Nots will continue Perry’s theme of the rich vs. the poor (seen prominently in The Family That Preys) while Love Thy Neighbor sounds more lighthearted.

Perry will write, direct and executive produce both shows, which begin production early next year.
