Canadian rapper Drake spent his holiday weekend saying goodbye to his grandmother. It’s been reported that Evelyn Sher, 82, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day. Drake confirmed the news on Twitter, writing:
“Rest in peace to my grandmother, Evelyn Sher. What a day to go … thankful to have had the times we did.”
Drake maintained a close bond with his grandmother leading up to her passing. He even rapped about her on an unreleased track, titled, “The Winner.” “Yeah, and in the name of Evelyn Sher/I’ll forever forgive anybody that never was there/For me, no other woman could ever compare/My angel I hope heaven’s prepared for whenever you there.”
