Fantasia recently caused a firestorm after demanding an apology from JET Magazine for using an unapproved photograph [above] of her on their latest cover. JET Editor in Chief, Mitzi Miller, did issue an apology, but for a different reason.
Recently Fantasia was angry at the publication for using a ten year old photograph of her instead of fancy pics her team sent that displayed a “new look” for her upcoming album [below]. But JET didn’t budge in it’s decision saying, “As standard editorial practice, JET consulted with Fantasia’s team, but reserves the right to select the image we deem as most appropriate for JET’s brand and reflective of the cover story sentiment.”
According to Journal-isms site, Mitzi Miller’s Facebook message to friends expressed her frustrations over the cover photo matter: “The fact that I wasted an hour of my workday writing a press release to address an issue created by a person who cannot even read it is just… “
Well, damn.
Realizing her remarks may be interpreted as insensitive, especially with Fantasia’s well documented struggle with illiteracy, Mitzi apologized:
“I apologize for the lack of sensitivity shown in my Facebook post. It was a thoughtless comment made during a moment of frustration. It was unprofessional and not representative of the JET mission, which is to uplift. I regret letting my emotions get the best of me. I am truly apologetic.”
HipHollywood reached out to JET to see if any disciplinary action will take place for Mitzi — so far with no response.
