Cissy Houston Rejects Clive Davis’ Invite To His Pre-Grammy Party, Calls It “Obscene!”

There may be a lot of people falling over themselves to get a invitation to Clive Davis’ über-famous pre-Grammy party, but Cissy Houston is definitely not one of them!

In fact, the mother of the late great Whitney Houston is offended that Davis even had the nerve to send her one! At an offical unveiling of Whitney’s 4 wax figures at Madame Tussaud’s in New York, Cissy revealed:

“I got an invitation to [Clive Davis' pre-Grammy] party, which is the most obscene thing.”

On February 11, 2012, almost one year ago exactly, Whitney Houston died in Los Angeles hotel while in town for Grammy week. The same day she died, Whitney was scheduled to attend Davis’ pre-Grammy party. Now, in her mother Cissy’s mind, the two will forever be connected. Cissy went on to elaborate on the connection, saying:

“I don’t know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of….I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake”

Clearly, in Cissy’s mind the invitation was in bad taste, and maybe even outright disrespectful! But, ironically enough, not all the Houston family members share the same opinion. Whitney’s brother Gary Houston and his wife Pat were also invited to Davis’ bash this year, and made it clear that they don’t agree with Cissy! Despite Cissy’s outrage, the two have made plans to attend the party. As Pat explained:

“[Clive] was such an important part of Whitney’s life. I mean, that was her industry father and he really, really was. My husband and I will definitely be there this weekend to support Clive. Absolutely.”

There’s no doubt that if Cissy, Gary, and Pat were all invited, then Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina was invited as well…however, no word yet on whether she’ll side with her grandma or her aunt and uncle on this one.
